New Thomas Cook look hits Fareham Shopping Centre

Published: Wednesday, 16 November 2011

The two branches of Thomas Cook in Fareham Shopping Centre have unveiled its new uniforms. The new Retail collection, worn by all customer-facing staff, creates a strong identity and one that is instantly recognisable to customers.

The company’s uniform history can be traced back to the early 1880s with an outfit previously worn by the first Thomas Cook Representatives, called Interpreters, who were based at railway stations across the UK and ports in Europe, Alexandria, Beirut and as far as New York. Mary O’Keefe, Manager of Thomas Cook’s West Street branch in Fareham, said: “Few companies can boast a heritage as strong as ours, and the uniform is an iconic part of that history. Whether it’s the red dickie bows of the eighties or shoulder pad suits of the nineties that you recall, it shows just how long we’ve been on the high street.”

“We are all incredibly proud of our company heritage and we know staff wear their uniform with pride, so naturally we asked for their opinions when developing the new outfits to ensure it was something that they really wanted, as well as fresh, exciting and fit for purpose.”

Fareham Shopping Centre’s Pam Marsden, Centre Director, said: “This is a huge investment for Thomas Cook in a time when companies are making cut backs. All staff at both the West Street and Westbury Mall branches are in their lovely new uniforms and looking great.”
