Get Ready For Romance!

A new year signals the arrival of exciting new choices on the fashion front and as the last dregs of the winter sales disappear,  an abundance of wonderfully pretty pieces is arriving in store to ease you into summer. Key words for the season are Feminine, Floaty and Flirty, so if you want to be right on trend for Spring 2008 you need to embrace womanly curves and dump the skinny jeans!

The dress in all its various guises continues to play a significant role in a woman’s wardrobe and you’ll find more than a hint of  70s retro styling in many of the long floaty dresses on offer.  Granny chic effortlessly mixes dramatic floral prints in soft fluid fabrics with old fashioned cardis in the prettiest of colours.

Texture and volume are important, and whilst many dresses are made from sheer fabrics, look out for ruffles, frills and floaty layers which will make transparent fabrics less revealing.  A strong Grecian theme that translates into asymetric one shouldered dresses, with lots of draping and pleating detail provides a sophisticated summer look for any smart occasion.

Colourwise think the sweetest of Spring shades, pale pastels, like crocus yellow, sugared almond pink and lilac and delicate hues of blue. Silver grey, which is both flattering and sophisticated, is set to be the new black of the season, although you will find a smattering of vivid brights used as block colour.

If you’re a girl who only wants to wear trousers fear not – you will find some fabulous trouser suits around but they follow the feminine theme with elegant flowing lines and not a skinny trouser in sight!
