Green Award For Fareham Shopping Centre

Pam and Hannah The Green Genie Campaign has been running for over a year at Fareham Shopping Centre and they were recently rewarded for their efforts by scooping 2nd runner up in the Care for the Environment category in the News “We can do it” awards.

On-going campaigns at the Centre include recycling stamps, bottle tops and trainers which had customers flocking to the recycling point within the Centre to do their bit for the Carbon Footprint.

The News recognised Fareham Shopping Centre and LCM for their efforts towards the environment and invited them to the awards ceremony at The Theatre Royal in Portsmouth where they soon found out that they had been short listed.

“It was a tense time,” commented Pam Gillard, Centre Manager, “We were just so happy to be short listed to the top eleven, then to the top three and before we knew it we were accepting our award.”

Pam went on to say: “It shows that the shoppers in Fareham really care for the environment and for the Wessex Cancer Trust as all money raised from the campaigns is donated to them.”

Shoppers who wish to carry on participating in Fareham Shopping Centre’s stamp campaign can pick up special recycling bags, designed for collecting used postage stamps, from the Green Genie stand next to the Centre’s Information Desk and at Fareham Borough Council’s offices.
