Aladdin wishes to
"stamp out waste"
The junior section of the Gosport Amateur Operatic
Society last week visited Fareham Shopping Centre to make a huge donation
of used stamps to the Centre’s Green Genie recycling campaign.
Eleven cast members from the society’s forthcoming production of Aladdin Jr. arrived armed with bags of used stamps that they had collected to donate to the campaign.
‘Stamping out waste’ is part of Fareham Shopping Centre’s ongoing eco-friendly campaign, Green Genie, raising money for the Wessex Cancer Trust by selling the stamps to a recycling company and donating the proceeds. To date the Centre has already raised over £150 for the charity from used stamps.
Pam Gillard, Centre Manager said: “It’s great to see young people getting involved in recycling, especially with the Green Genie campaign. Their costumes looked fantastic and I wish them every success with their production.”
Shoppers who wish to participate in Fareham Shopping Centre’s stamp campaign can pick up special recycling bags, designed for collecting used postage stamps, from the Green Genie stand next to the Centre’s Information Desk and at Fareham Borough Council’s offices.
Aladdin Jr. is being performed at the Crofton Community Centre Theatre in Stubbington, on 4th – 6th October at 7.30pm. Tickets are available from the Community Centre or on 01329 665075.
