We estimate that we recycle over 15 tonnes of waste a week, with 10 tonnes of that waste being pulped and mashed on-site by specialist compressors. By compressing the waste it takes up less room in the skips. This means they don’t need to be emptied as often, reducing lorry emissions.
Even things such as light bulbs and computers, when disposed of correctly, can be recycled. All the lights are taken away to be extracted for mercury. Computers, batteries, tins of paint, etc. are collected by a specialist company to be disposed of correctly.
The Centre and its stores work in partnership when it comes to recycling because we all know how important it is to protect our environment.
