Fareham Shopping Centre was one of seventeen UK shopping centres shortlisted in the category of ‘Overall Strategic Marketing Campaign’ at the glittering annual British Council of Shopping Centre’s Oscar-style event.
The Purple Apple Awards, hosted in the Royal Horticultural Halls in London, were presented by TV celebrity Claudia Winkleman who charmed the 650-strong audience and announced the Centre’s entry amongst the finalists from around the UK.
The entry outlined the Centre’s careful planning behind its hugely successful ‘Reduce your carbon FOOTprint campaign’ which encouraged shoppers to recycle their old shoes in support of several local charities.
“It was fantastic to join other shopping centres specialising in marketing to showcase our promotional work at this top national level,” says Pam Gillard, Centre Manager. “We are already making preparations for next year’s entry which will be even bigger and better. We are determined to walk away with the top coveted prize – a Purple Apple or even a Pip!”
Fareham Shopping Centre launched its new Green Zone in April which shows shoppers how ‘small steps can lead to big changes’. Shoppers can visit the zone to pick up green hints and tips and enter the Centre’s latest green campaign to recycle used postage stamps for charity. Pam adds: “Our organisation for this campaign has been carefully planned and we are hopeful it will make a big impact at next year’s awards.”
