As a part of Fareham Shopping Centre's Summer Showcase weekend, which took place on 25th and 26th April, the Sunday saw would-be holidaymakers making the most of a special opportunity to learn how to beat the credit crunch by spending their annual summer holidays here in the UK.
The “Holidays at Home” themed event was organised by Thomas Cook West Street and supported by a number of other travel companies, along with Millets and Waterstone’s in the Centre, to give shoppers ideas for British breaks. Whether searching for a bargain or for luxury, shoppers were spoilt for choice as there was a wide variety of options on offer, with travel advisers on-hand to offer their experience, advice and ideas.
Fareham Shopping Centre’s mascot, Salty the Seagull, joined Thomas Cook staff to hand out information on some great holiday ideas and offers and to entertain younger shoppers.
Pam Gillard, Centre Manager, says: “The Travel Showcase was the perfect way to offer shoppers ideas on holidaying “at home” this summer. The UK has so much to offer, and it’s right on our doorstep.” The event was very well received by shoppers, wanting to learn more about what Britain has to offer holidaymakers.”
